Story of the “Sunset Albino Doe”

It took me over one year and MANY early cold mornings, to capture this moment. I did not chase her or disturb her or her family. In one shot, I caught both her and her mother running together, along the sunrise. Their breath could be seen in the early morning temperature.  I was SO blessed to finally have her stand in front of the sun rising. This photo shows the actual sunrise and has not been edited. I was laying flat on the “golf course”. If you look close enough, you will see her standing on the golf course 🙂

1 – 10×14 Mounted Wall Art w/ Walnut Frame $148.00

I was lucky enough to have this long lost visitor within minutes from me! This photograph was taken at Shiawassee Park.

This Black-bellied Whistling-Duck (BBWD) apparently made the wrong turn during migration. This is the eighth Michigan record as of this post. For a few months he made his home in our community. I took MANY photos of him and got to know where he hung out during the day and evening.

The BBWD was with a large group of Mallards and he was never alone (Thank God!).  I was lucky enough to see him up-close and I mean he waddled around me within a few feet! I could see its pink legs, pinkish-red bill, the gray cheek patches, white eye ring, and a black belly. I also noted he was taller than the Mallards and had quite the attitude. He did hang out with a Ms. Mallard and I saw him “snap” at any dudes that came too close…. This is why I felt he was a “he”.

1 – 12×36 Mounted Wall Art w/ Walnut Frame $236.00

I saw a VERY large Red Tail Hawk (RTH) in the tree next to me at Heritage Park (behind the Nature Center). The RTH was concentrating so much, that I just stood there with my camera watching him through the lens. He flew right over my head, where I felt my hair move with his movement. He ended up flying at the ground within a few feet from me. I started video recording him, stomping on the ground for a few minutes!  It was so exciting to witness this up-close!

This shot was an once-in-a-lifetime shot! I felt so blessed and honored!
